A Developer's Guide to the Word Frequency Counter

The Word Frequency Counter is an analytical tool that breaks down any piece of text to show you how often each word appears. It's great for SEO analysis, text mining, or simply gaining insight into writing style.

Features

  • Accurate Word Counting: The tool correctly tokenizes words, ignoring punctuation and counting all instances of each word.
  • Configurable Analysis:
    • Case Sensitivity: Choose whether to treat "The" and "the" as the same word or as two different words.
    • Stop Word Exclusion: A powerful feature that allows you to automatically ignore common, low-value words (like "the," "a," "is") to get more meaningful results.
    • Top N Results: Limit the output to the top 10, 20, or any number of most frequent words.
  • Dual Visualization: The results are presented in two clear formats:
    • Frequency Table: A sortable table showing each word and its exact count.
    • Frequency Chart: A horizontal bar chart that provides a quick visual comparison of the most common words.
  • Multiple Export Options: Download your frequency data as either a JSON file or a CSV file, ready for use in other applications or scripts.

How to Use

  1. Paste Your Text: Enter the block of text you want to analyze into the "Input Text" area.
  2. Set Your Options:
    • Toggle Case Sensitive on or off.
    • It's usually best to leave Exclude Stop Words on for the most useful results.
    • Set the Top N Words you want to display, or leave it blank to see all words.
  3. Analyze the Results:
    • The Frequency Table on the left gives you the raw data.
    • The Frequency Chart on the right provides a visual summary.
  4. Export Your Data: Use the "Export as JSON" or "Export as CSV" buttons to save the full frequency list.
